There are two approaches schools can choose from to enable the delivery of an early career training programme induction:
Option A – Prover-led: Schools using a training provider to deliver the ECTP-based training. This would be via a delivery partner (such as The Golden Thread TSH) and a lead provider (such as Teach First).
Option B – School-led: Schools using DfE accredited materials to deliver ECTP training. Schools deliver their own training using DfE-accredited materials and resources. You will need to identify the core elements of your chosen programme and make sure that they can be delivered as intended. There are four different programmes to choose from. You can access the materials for each programme here.
If schools choose option B, The Golden Thread Teaching School Hub, as Appropriate Body, will need to fidelity-check your programme before induction starts as well as during the induction period itself.
What will fidelity checking of the school using DfE accredited materials programme involve?
We will require you to complete an initial fidelity checking form outlining your ECTP programme and how it aligns with the core materials (option B) and the Early Career Framework statements. Please email tsh@painsley.staffs.sch.uk if you would like to discuss this option and we will send you the correct form.
Please read the guidance on these forms carefully and ensure that all aspects are completed fully before returning to us. We will then provide formative feedback on your planned programme, including training sessions, mentoring and self-directed study, and arrange any follow up discussions as necessary.
In year 1, we will complete a fidelity checking visit to find out how your ECTP has been implemented, to check that you are providing the programme as planned and that it aligns with your chosen core course materials. As well as all staff involved in the delivery have a good knowledge and understanding of the course materials. Please note this is separate to our quality assurance visits.
In year 2 another visit will take place to find out how your ECTP has been implemented, the successes of your ECTs, and if any changes will be made before the next cycle of ECTs begins. Please note this is separate to our quality assurance visits.
