Assessment Only Route

To qualify for this route into teaching, you must already be teaching in an unqualified post and your Headteacher must agree to you applying for this route, as the school you are employed by will pay a fee towards its completion. You also must meet all of the qualifications, DBS and medical criteria in the “How to Apply” section.

In addition, you will need to:

Have taught in two separate schools (the second school must have been a minimum of six weeks as a placement – teaching abroad is considered for this)
Have taught for two years in the school in which you will be qualifying (minimum) – this does not include working as a teaching assistant but it can be in any key stage (you could have a mix of primary and secondary experience, for instance)
You have to apply through KNSTE directly and you must have proof of your Maths and English GCSEs (both at Grade 4/C or above), plus your degree certificate
This is a shorter training period than the other routes, but you are expected to keep a variety of evidence which proves you have met all the Teacher Standards and you will be awarded QTS
